Episode 20, July 14, 2006

In this show, we have something a bit different: live music by Tatyana Draijer, a Dutch student on the General English course at the Bardwell Road Adult Centre, St Clare's, Oxford. She sings three songs, two in English and one in Dutch, her mother tongue, that she wrote, accompanying herself on her guitar. She also talks about herself and her music in an interview section.

The playlist:
1. You're My Star (in English)
2. I Will Wait For You (in English)
3. Untitled (in Dutch)
These songs are copyright 2006 Tatyana Draijer, all rights reserved.

Thank you so much to Tatyana for agreeing to let us include her songs in the show, and for the interview.

The show is brilliantly presented by Woun, a general English student from South Korea, and a regular contributor to this podcast. A million thanks to him! The audience was Julia, a student from Russia - a big thanks to her - and Geoff (teacher), also at the controls of GarageBand recording software on his Apple PowerBook laptop.

We welcome contributions from other students in any area that can be pictured, filmed, recorded or described in words. Next!!!

Woun chose from the following interview questions:

What kind of music do you like to play?
How long have you been playing?
How did you learn to play?
Do you play in a group or just alone?
Have you played in public or recorded before?
How many songs have you written?
What are your songs about?
How easy is it to write in English - a foreign language?
Do you only sing your own material or others too?
Who are you musical heroes/heroines?
Do you have ambitions to have a musical career or is it just a hobby?
Have you ever tried busking?
Do you have any advice or suggestions for listeners who might want to start playing music/writing their own songs?
